Clovelly Court Garden The Clovelly Estate is currently undertaking a major renovation programme of the gardens adjacent to Clovelly Court.
The garden is a classic example of the Victorian kitchen garden tradition. To date there has been renovation of the magnificent lean-to greenhouses with their original manual levers. The 12ft high surrounding walls have been repointed and recoped.
Apricots, melons, peaches, nectarines, a vine, citrus and a fig tree, cucumbers, peppers, chillies, aubergines and tomatoes are being grown. Cut flowers are also grown for sale together with pot plants from the nursery.
New espalier fan and cordon fruit trees line the walls enclosing the garden which also shelter vegetables grown organically and in rotation ensuring sweet tasting and safe produce for sale.
From the village of Clovelly a woodland walk - £The Long Walk£ leads along an elegant and beautiful path to the gardens.
Within the unique maritime microclimate of the gardens is planned a display of tender and exotic flower borders sculptured from the landscape to enhance the character and atmosphere already present.
Location Adjacent to All Saints Church, Clovelly. At Clovelly Cross on A39, take B3227 to Clovelly. Proceed down hill for 1.5 miles. As road swings right, park at Church gates and proceed on path on right towards Church and garden.
